Baptismal Font

Near the entrance, the baptismal font stands in the middle of the aisle. It reminds Christians as they enter of their baptism, which most received as infants. Through baptism, people are welcomed into communion with the Triune God and thus incorporated into the Church as the People of God.

The chalice-shaped stone contains consecrated water beneath its cover. This water is poured over the head of the person being baptized. This ritual of purification symbolizes personal renewal and a turning toward God. The central placement of the font underscores that this turning is not a one-time event but an ongoing process of growing closer to God.

The font is decorated with the Christogram Chi (X) and Rho (P) – the first Greek letters of the word Christos – as well as with crosses.
