Confessional Room

This room is where the faithful may receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation (confession). They entrust their sins and failings to a priest. Through sincere repentance and confession before God, forgiveness and a new beginning are granted. Confession is a place of listening, speaking, and forgiveness – where God’s mercy becomes tangible.

Penitents may choose to sit face-to-face with the priest or use the screened confessional for greater anonymity.

The neo-Gothic stained-glass windows in the confessional come from the chapel of the Sisters of St. Elizabeth at the Kleiner Michel (until 1972). Next to the door, the windows depict St. Elizabeth of Thuringia with Ludwig of Thuringia or Emperor Charlemagne. The window on the outer wall shows Mary and Joseph.
